I contact Garmin tech support on the issue and they were singularly unhelpful. As more or less all modern notebooks only have version 3.0 ports, this is now a **serious** problem. The Nav VI has the same problem.Įssentially it is touch and go whether it will connect to a USB version 3.0 port on any PC. Naively I believed that purchasing the successor model, Navigator VI (lists at £699), would solve this well-known problem. This is needed to update firmware, update maps and, most importantly for me, upload GPX routes created externally. But it has a problem with connectivity to PCs - widely reported here and in other places. This is a GPS unit designed and manufactured by Garmin but sold by BMW for BMW motorcycles.
